The company
Aqua-Spark is a global investment fund based in Utrecht, that makes investments in sustainable aquaculture businesses that generate investment returns, while creating positive social and environmental impact. The fund is building an ecosystem of small to medium sized enterprises across the global aquaculture value chain to make aquaculture more sustainable, healthier and more accessible for all.                               
Responsibilities
The Investment Manager is responsible for the investment process; turning high quality leads into a final agreement on investments, reaching an optimum result for the fund’s investors and portfolio companies.   • Responsible for the due diligence process on potential portfolio investments, which includes in-depth due diligence on the team, company financials and returns, impact factors, deal structure, investment amount, risk assessment, product and market description, etc..
  • Write investment proposals for the investment committee regarding potential investments describing findings in the due diligence process.
  • Advise the stakeholders (Managing Partners and investment committee) by presenting new potential portfolio companies for investment.
  • Monitor both financial and non-financial performance of the existing portfolio investments.
  • work (pro-actively) on sustainable relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Represent Aqua-Spark at conferences and events. Connects with and establish relationships within the worldwide Aqua-Spark network.
  • Work together with the deal team to identify which companies are most promising for Aqua-Spark’s portfolio.
  • Keep up-to-date on information that is relevant to the aquaculture industry and Aqua-Spark’s value chain, and specialises in aquaculture and its (financial) markets.
  • Willing to travel internationally  6-8 times a year.


Required personal skills
The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business or similar discipline and 5 or more years of professional experience in a senior position, for example in impact investing, corporate finance or business development. You have experience in working with SME’s, preferably with a sustainable, environmental and/or social focus;.Understanding of the global food production and the agri-/aquaculture industry is preferrred. Furthermore you have

  • Excellent analytical skills using methods to obtain, assess, interpret and present complicated financial information;
  • Experience with business planning, negotiating and working with financial modeling and processing legal documentation/information;
  • Willing to follow trends and developments in aquaculture;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a high degree of professionalism in English and preferably a second language;
  • Must be proficient in Apple, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook); familiarity with databases; excellent IT/computer skills in general.

The company is located in an inspiring building in the center of Utrecht. You will be working in a great  team with an entrepreneurial and positive atmosphere. You' report to the Investment Director.
