The company
Aqua-Spark is a global investment fund based in Utrecht, that makes investments in sustainable aquaculture businesses that generate investment returns, while creating positive social and environmental impact. The fund is building an ecosystem of small to medium sized enterprises across the global aquaculture value chain to make aquaculture more sustainable, healthier and more accessible for all. 
We are currently seeking a Finance Manager to manage our finances and financial reporting. 

As a Finance Manager you will act as the Finance business partner for management and working closely with the team and our stakeholders. You will primarily be responsible for managing our finances and financial reporting:

  • Coordinate annual audit and preparation of financial statements with the fund’s administrator
  • Coordinate collection and review of quarterly financial reports from portfolio companies, prepare reports/updates on portfolio company financial performance and progress
  • Analyzing the fund’s finances and accounts and helping create monthly/quarterly budgets for the fund and the operating company
  • Answer questions from and provide guidance to portfolio companies as needed regarding quarterly and yearly financial reporting requirements
  • Maintain/create internal fund financial documents, including, for example, investment and capital overviews, management fee calculations, etc.
  • Coordinate and work with fund administrator on semi-annual fund valuation reports
  • Coordinate with fund administrator to ensure that fund accounting is up to date
  • Internal/external invoicing process and collection of invoiced amounts 

Required personal skills
You are a talented, finance professional with at least 7 years of working experience in Finance roles. Besides a relevant Bachelor/Master degree in Economics or Accounting you have a:

  •  Strong background in finance and knowledge of standard accounting principles and practices
  • Knowledge of valuation mechanisms and practices, including, for instance, NAV/net equity valuations
  • Specific familiarity with IFRS accounting and valuation principles preferred
  • Experience working in an international financial environment preffered
  • Experience with financial modeling
  • Familiarity with Dutch tax reporting/filing is a plus 
  • The ability to build trust, credibility with a team and peers
  • Drive to constantly improve and challenge the status quo
  • Excellent social and communication skills in English and Dutch, both written and verbal
  • Good Excel skills
